Blended with Tribal events to provide activities that do not overlap each other and exist in harmony.  Some of our sporting events are held at SunUte Community Center (opened 12/01)
  • SunUte exceeded annual goal of 20% of local population as members by February 2002, including Southern Ute members (900 people) as well as Ignacio and Bayfield communities (3,000 people)


  • The 50,000 sq. ft. SunUte facility includes a collegiate length Gym, Pool, Cardio/Weight Area, Group Exercise Room, Walking Trails, newly installed Playground, two Softball Fields, Soccer and Baseball Field.

PDue in Part to the Revenue from the Tribe’s Natural Gas Resources They Have Built 4 New Architecturally Pleasing Buildings

PConstruction started on the 50,000 sq. ft. Office Building to House and Support the Tribes Growth Fund, Department of Energy and Red Willow.  To be called the “Growth Fund Building.” 

This building will house a combination of 200
currently held and newly created jobs.

PThere are Future Plans for a New Gateway to Start at the Edge of Town.

PThe Tribe and the Town of Ignacio together received a Grant from CDOT to connect the Tribe, and the town, with a multi modal pathway with pocket parks
- to be started in the spring.

PThe Town of Ignacio received a $450,000 grant as part of the purchase price for a 70 acre parcel to be developed residentially complete with open space parks. 

The newly acquired 70 acres is adjacent to the tribally
owned affordable housing apartment complex.
